While these moneymaking ventures may have initially required your resources, time, or efforts, they generally eventually pay out automatically without you breaking a sweat.” 

What is Active Income?

Investopedia defines Active income refers to income received for performing a service. Wages, tips, salaries, commissions, and income from businesses in which there is material participation are examples of active income.  These are essentially any type of work that requires you to put significant active time on a regular basis to continue generating income. 

What is Affiliate Marketing?  
Investopedia defines Affiliate Marketing as “an advertising model in which a company compensates third-party publishers to generate traffic or leads to the company’s products and services. The third-party publishers are affiliates, and the commission fee incentivizes them to find ways to promote the company.”

-Making money the traditional active way often can be fast and easier to do.  The more effort you put in, the more you should get money in return.
-There can be plenty of active income jobs especially when the economy is thriving or when demand for workers exceed the number of works available.
-Active income jobs includes the gig economy contracted work which lately have become easier to apply to than regular W2 part time or full time jobs.

-If you can get a regular part-time or full time job, you may be entitled to benefits like healthcare, dental, vision, 401K, etc.  

-While many W2 traditional jobs take a portion of your funds out of your paycheck for taxes or social security, this helps as opposed to if you were getting paid as an independent contractor which leaves you having to set aside significant amounts of taxes the following tax period.  

Cons: 
-Income potential is limited as time is limited to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you can only work part of that time as you need to also sleep and rest and tend to personal life matters).
-Sometime applying to regular full time or part-time work can be a lengthy application and interview process
-If you are a self-employed contractor you may have to cover your own healthcare costs.
-If you are self employed and accept independent contractor work, you will need to set a significant amount of your pay to taxes in the next tax period.

-You can make more money with rideshare by renting larger sized SUV’s, or vans or premium black car vehicles for Uber or Lyft to possibly make higher rideshare rates.  Drivers in the past for instance have been able to make $20 in a trip just from picking up people with luggage or cargo by the airport.  Check their programs for more info and availability for rates. 
-If you have a larger vehicle, sometimes you can pick up larger delivery orders such as through Shipt from places like Best Buy which sometimes have multiple drop off location orders.  

Cons: 
-You will need a reliable car.  For doing rideshare to drive people, Uber and Lyft generally require you to have a car that passes their basic safety standards check lists.  The cars they approve have to be under a certain age, perhaps no longer than 10 years max, but see their terms to see which cars qualify. If you are only doing food delivery, generally any cars no matter the age works.

-As mentioned earlier, rideshare delivery may mean dealing with unruly or drunk passengers so doing food delivery isn’t as bad as an alternative, however some pick ups can have a long food preparation wait.  Certain customers may also have less than ideal drop off locations especially for larger apartment complexes with maze-like floorplans.

So the above example is for Active Income Opportunities. Now, we're going to go over examples of passive income opportunies. We'll be using a term called a "Money Tree" to describe a passive income system opportunity that you can nurture and grow. This is a term coined by MJ Demarco in his book, The Millionaire Fastlane. He describes how you can create a money tree passive income system that will allow you to divorce your your time from your wealth platform which will allow you to make money while you sleep. While a money tree system may require initial labor and time to build, once your money tree system is built, DeMarco says this system can then run on autopilot which may just require minimal supervision and "watering" through either feeding it with resources like ad spend or other marketing resources to promote your system to help it blossom .

Examples of money trees include authoring a book or affiliate marketing websites. Books requires initial labor and creativity to write the book and publish it. But once it is created, you can promote it online with various source to "water it" like with paid ads or Search Engine Optimization techniques to help it rank on Google to be found by customers. Or you can produce social media videos or do Public Relations (PR) to promote it.

You don’t need your own store or create your own products to make money with e-commerce.  With product affiliate marketing, there is a demand from creators of various physical & digital products along with services that you can sign up to promote for these creators which you can then receive earnings based on the volume and cost of the products & services you sell. 

Product affiliate sites like Clickbank and JVZoo allows you to browse and choose affiliate products that other vendors have created and earn a percent or fixed affiliate commission for each product sale.  Even Amazon has their own affiliate product program where you can sign up to promote amazon products.

In order to promoting affiliate products the process generally can be  quite simple.  Find a product company site and browse their marketplace of products.  You can generally sign up for a free account where you can either sign up as an affilliate to sell other people’s products which should contain all the product information, and the affiliate commissions arrangement the vendor is willing to give for each sale. 

Once you choose products in the marketplace you want to sell and promote, the vendor will send over the affiliate links you need to share with friends, family or acqaintances or to use in your business marketing to promote the products to others.  You can use the custom affiliate links specific to your marketplace account to share the link on any websites or social media you create for promoting products. 

Or if you are a creator with a finished product with all your marketing material ready, you can sign up as a vendor to sell products on a variety of product affiliate marketplace platforms.

Cons: 
Products are only as good as the what the makers are able to make which also includes their marketing material.  If the product and/or the marketing created for the product is poor, it may be harder to sell. 
-While Clickbank’s products generally allow you to sign up for any product right away, JVZoo gives vendors the option to pre-qualify affiliate partners they want to work with so that means you may need to get a vendor’s permission to promote their products beforehand.  Some require previous experience.
